Report, FEI World Cup – Jumping, Season 2002-2203, South East Asian League

The 2003 FEI World Cup South East Asian League attracted participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Korea as well as riders from Australia, Sweden and Scotland. All in all, 12 riders and 20 horses participated in the qualifying league events.

There were 5 qualifying rounds that culminated in the final in November, details are as follows:

At the conclusion of the final league of the SEA World Cup, Mohd Qabil Ambak from Malaysia led with 42 points, one point ahead of Quzier Ambak who also hails from Malaysia. The brothers were followed closely by Helena Gabrielsson (SWE) in third place with 38 points and Syed Mohsin (MAL) in forth place with 29 points. The other riders contending for the SEA League were Michelle Barrera (PHI), Varat Ngawabunpat (THA), Lalitya Rangsit (THA), who are currently ranked at fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively.

SEA World Cup Qualifiers Yong Riders League, Quzandria Nur from Malaysia led with 58 points, while Nathanart Bhinseng (THA) and Ikhwan Hafiz Jamaluddin came in at second and third placing with each amassing 42 and 41 points respectively.

The overall winner of the SEA World Cup League 2003, Mohd Qabil Ambak will represent South East Asia at the World Cup finals in Milan, Italy in 2004.

On the whole, the 2003 SEA World Cup League was successful in attracting horses and riders participating from various countries.
