SEA World Cup Committee Meeting, Report
January 26, 2004
SEA World Cup
Committee meeting took placed on December 23, 2003 in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After the
welcome speech by the Committee President, Mr. Rafiq Radinal, the meeting
discussed the following items:
FEI World Cup
Showjumping, SEA League 2004
The Vice President of the SEA World Committee, Dato’ Fathil proposed that
all SEA World Cup League qualifiers for 2004 will be organized in Malaysia
due to the travel and quarantine difficulties. It is planned to have 5
qualifying competitions and a final in the year 2004.
The proposed dates and venues for the SEA World Cup League Qualifiers 2004
are as follow:

The
meeting suggested to introduce the ‘Junior SEA World Cup League’ with
heights of 90cm – 100cm which would be open to riders below 16 years at all
SEA World Cup League Qualifiers 2004.
FEI World Cup Dressage, SEA League
The Committee President, Mr. Rafiq
Radinal recommended the addition suggested of the SEA World Cup Dressage
League in this region. The meeting generally noted that the Dressage WC in
SEA should be of a lower level, similar to the SEA WC Jumping. Dato’ Fathil
proposed to appoint one person in-charge to study the number of the high
level dressage riders, availability of the horses and other matters
concerning introducing the World Cup level dressage in South East Asia.
The
person in-charge will also appoint members from South East Asia in his/her
sub-committee. The president and vice president will meet-up with Federation
Equestre Internationale (FEI) to bid for the SEA Dressage World Cup League
after all information and details are compiled.
Veterinary
The President suggested inclusion
of a veterinarian into the SEA World Cup Committee. Dr. Balakrishnan was
proposed to be appointed in the SEA World Cup Committee. Dr. Balakrishnan
will be in-charge of all issues regarding veterinary protocol and he will
liaise with other recommended veterinary officials from other countries.
Reappointment of the Committee Members
The Committee suggested to restructure the SEA committee members and to
nominate/appoint an active representative from each country. It was
requested that all the committee members to be present in the next meeting
for further discussion and to finalize the above matter.
Ms Alla Poloumieva was appointed as representative from Singapore in the SEA
World Cup League Committee
World Cup Official Website
The committee decided to establish
an official SEA World Cup League website. The Committee also suggested
compiling materials (pictures, booklets, results, videos) from previous SEA
World Cup Leagues into an archive.
Funding
Dato’ Fathil suggested that each country should contribute a certain amount
to the World Cup Committee fund. He further explained that the money may be
used to help in developing & promoting the SEA World Cup league in this
region.
Permit / Immigration
The committee agreed to work on the special arrangements with the Malaysia
Immigration Department to allow the grooms from other countries to receive
longer permits/visas for the duration of the SEA World Cup League 2004 in
Malaysia.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
