Christopher Ladbrook and Foollyfoot Mary win the FEI/PSI World Jumping Challenge 2004

May 25, 2004

Christopher Ladbrook and Foolyfoot Mary, owned by Amanda Garran, posted the only four-clear round in a two days competition to take home the first place ribbon in the FEI/PSI World Jumping Challenge 2004, Category A, 120 cm, held at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during the last weekend. The New Zealand born rider and trainer, who lives in Kuala Lumpur, had the support of an enthusiastic crowd in a competition that saw eight horses advance to the final round.

Quzier Ambak (Mas) was placed second with Heros (1 fault) and third with his  first mount Calano (15 faults) declared for the official results of the FEI/PSI WJC.

Alla Poloumieva (Sin) and First D'Espoir, posted the fastest double-clear round on the first day, so there were high hopes for the pair. Four knockdowns on the second day in the third round declared that it was all over. The pair finished in fourth place.

Lea Tan and her Little Tin Can took fifth place (18 faults). Tunku Nazroff riding Boxer and Eric Koh with Hamlet withdrew after the first day of the competition.

In the Category B, 105cm, seventeen competitors took to the field to tackle the challenging courses set by Mexican course designer Arq. Javier Fernandez. These courses proved to be difficult for the riders and produced no four-clear round over the two days.

Norrine Dewal riding her horse Lorenco took the first place with only two faults. Saskia Karina and Penrose Wichity, showed the fastest time, but one rail down meant she had to settle for the second place. The talented young rider Ellesse Tzinberg and Sarabago came close to catching Saskia with the time difference of only 0.49 seconds. The pair finished third. Kean Tan rode his Copyright to the fourth place.

About FEI/PSI World Challenge.

This competition is held in over 60 countries worldwide and is focused on countries with riders who might not normally be in a position to travel to international competitions.

The FEI World Challenge is sponsored by PSI International, an organization based in
Germany which focuses on the sale and marketing of the competition horses. The structure of this competition caters to developing regions such as the South East Asia, and allows riders to compete internationally without leaving their home land.

The participating countries are divided into regions, scores will be tabulated and compared to others riders in the same region who have jumped the identical course, and placings will be determined. Malaysian riders compete against the riders from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, India and Philippines.

The two highest placing competitors of each region, riding in the highest level class (120cm), will be invited to participate in the finals which are held in Germany the following year.
