The Indonesian Horse
Weekend held at Arthayasa Stables on 11-13
June was a great success for all three equestrian disciplines: eventing,
dressage, and
showjumping. In the end, all the hard work and effort put in by the
organizers, volunteers and officials paid off handsomely.
The Indonesian Horse Weekend was run in conjunction with the FEI/PSI World Jumping Challenge and served as the last qualifying competition for the Indonesian National Games - or Indonesian Olympiad (PON XVI) which will be held in September 2004. A total of 147 horses competed over 4 days in an action packed competition. Eight Indonesian provinces (out of 32) prepared a team of riders to participate in this important event. A total of 120 horses came to Arthayasa from Indonesian provinces. Traveling 6 days by boat, horses from Sulawesi Utara had, by far, the longest traveling time. Dressage

(Sulawesi Utara) (123.50%) In individual dressage (FEI Regional Games, Team Competition Test), first place went to Nico Pelealu on Loretto (63%), followed by Roy Ibrahim on Kumala Jamzes (62.86%). Jeanne Lukito with her mount Pizaz Girande finished third (60.86%). Eventing
Seven teams representing seven provinces (East Borneo, Kaltim; DKI Jakarta; Jawa Barat; Sulawesi Utara; Sulawesi Selatan; Jawa Timur; Sumatera Selatan) competed in the Eventing. Only three teams completed the competition, the rest were eliminated during the cross-country or showjumping test. Rahmat Natzir (East Borneo-Kaltim) posted a dressage score of of 51.5 penalty points earned aboard Kumala Reiner, an Arthayasa bred 7-year-old gelding which put him well into the lead from a starting field of 28 entries. Second went to Wempy Kaunang (Jawa Timur) on Sunny Boy with 56.7 points and third place went to Gutomo (Jawa Barat) on Morits (56.7). With a penalty-free cross-country performance, Rahmat Natzir (East Borneo-Kaltim) maintained his position atop the 23 horse-rider combinations that entered the Saturday's challenging test. Gutomo with Moritz (Jawa Barat) moved into second position and Budi Tulodo (East Borneo-Kaltim) on Kumala Forego followed the lead. Unfortunately, Rahmat's hopes of winning were dashed when his young mount, who is still a bit green, refused the first fence of the showjumping round. The two were eliminated from the competition, putting their teammate Fesol Al Bahri and his brave mare, Kumala Cameo, into first position (61.0 penalty points). Anto Binarto on Cassina (Bali) moved from 10th place after the dressage test into the second position on the final day with a total of 67.3 points. Third was Volan on Capucino (DKI Jakarta) with 72.5 penalty points. In the team competition, first place (261.6) went to East Borneo-Kaltim team (Fesol Al Bahru / Kumala Cameo; Indra Rosendi / Kumala Magnificent; Budi Tulodo / Kumala Forego; Rahmat Natzir / Kumala Reiner). Second (285.1) went to the DKI Jakarta team (Volan / Capucino; Yanyan Hadiansyan / Milan; Adi Katompo / Rahwana; Teny Palandeng / Tornanda). Third place went to Sulawest Utara team with 337.5 points (Stewy Tewu / Koko; Iwan Supit / Arsenal; Julia Londong / Bimma; Join Roring / Jati Mas).
Showjumping The showjumping classes included the FEI/PSI World Jumping Challenge (WJC) Cat. A and B, as well as other classes. The WJC rounds served as the qualification classes for PON XVI (National Games). In Cat. A, 120cm, Andri
Sutoyo riding Domingo (Jawa Barat) knocked down two poles and picked up two
time faults over four rounds to finish first with total of 10 faults in a
time of 134.51. In Cat. B, 105cm, the first place went to Andri Prasetyo on Moko (8/126.44), second to Denish Christian on Just Sharon (9/152.42) and third to Dadan Suhendar on Rimo (16/127.41). Party On Saturday evening, competitors, officials, sponsors and guests were treated to a cocktail party sponsored by Mees Pierson, the Private Bankers of Fortis, the main sponsor of the event.
The Arthayasa clubhouse was transformed into a beautiful rustic gallery, decorated with elegant traditional furniture, sheer curtains, fruits and flowers. Delicious food and a string quartet added to the fine atmosphere of the evening. All agreed that the quality of the competition was the best yet. Whether participant or spectator, everyone who took part enjoyed this high-performance equestrian experience. The party started with a Dressage Show Pas de Deux by Roy
Ibrahim on Kumala Idefix and Aditha Indra on Kadans, followed by two freestyle
performances to music by Larasati Gading on Dynamite and Roy Ibrahim on
Kumala Jamzes. The last performance was conducted by visiting German dressage rider, Christophe Umbach on Don Romiro.
