Singapore, - June 12, 2003 - Sport Horse Communication & Management Pte Ltd (SHCM) held the EFS / Sport Horse Dressage Championship 2003 , Singapore national dressage championship over the weekend of June 7-8 at the Bukit Timah Saddle Club. Ninety one times the riders representing Singapore Polo Club, Bukit Timah Saddle Club and Riding for Disabled (Singapore) went down the centerline over the two-day competition. Sixteen riders competed in the Preliminary Junior Championship won by Kathleen Seah and her mount Une Des Pipet (SPC) with 65.99% combined score in front of Olivia Burr (BTSC) with Patch, 65.05% and Timothy Goh (BTSC) with Altid Firfod 64.104%. Fourteen riders went on to compete in the Novice Championship. The Novice Open Championship was awarded to Teri Myers (SPC) /Backplay 70.426%, second was Cynthia Ee (SPC)/Joanna (65.08%) and third Amanda Ashdown (SPC) /Genadendal (64.74%). In the junior category, Caroline Chew (BTSC) won the Novice Junior Championship on Streamliner (63.43%) in front of Melissa Ashdown /Graceland II (SPC) 62.065% and Christina Kunz on Kingsford Smith (57.690%). Elementary Championship included only four riders. Cynthia Ee (SPC) and her new mount Hamilton (68.179%) won the Elementary Open Championship in front of Louise T. Ostergaard with her 7-months trained ex-race horse Diamond (65.064%) and Yeo Sui Lyn (SPC) with Une Des Pipet (61.397%). The Elementary Junior Championship went to Melissa Ashdown /Graceland II (SPC) (56.679%). Joanna Goh (BTSC) on Corbieres scored 60.271% over the two days and was awarded the Medium Open Championship. Inge Thorsen (BTSC) / Laurits (70.75%), Joanna Goh (BTSC) /Corbieres (65.75% ) and Daniel Sitranen(SPC)/ Une Des Pipet (65.75%) rode in Freestyle to Music class. The riders and their mounts executed movements familiar to the audience, such as flying changes and half-pass across diagonal, in effortless, ground-swallowing strides. The judges for the Championship were Margrit Hoffman (Ger) and Maree Hewitt (Aus). Margrit commented on the improved level of riding after her last visit to Singapore in March 2003 as a judge for the SHCM Dressage Training Rounds. The weekend was not just about competition. Fun, learning and good sportsmanship abounded. “A competition requires many helping hands”, said Alla Poloumieva, the show director and president of SHCM. “I would like to thank all our sponsors and individual of the equestrian community that have stepped forward with generous donations of funds and products. As a result, winners have gone home with numerous prizes. I would also would like to acknowledge the members of the organizing committee, all volunteers, who spent countless hours to perform myriad duties, all essential, some unglamorous, to make the show happen for the competitors.”
