Report from Olympia International Showjumping Championships, day 3

December 20, 2003

British riders Tim Stockdale and Nick Skelton thrilled a packed weekend audience of families at the Olympia International Show Jumping Championships and are now vying with the young Swiss star Steve Guerdan for the title of leading rider of the show.

The British pair did not have it all their own way, sharing the spoils with two German riders. Olympia debutant Alois Pollman-Schweckhor jumped five successive clear rounds in the Christmas Masters against Nick's four on Russel, and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, one of only four lady riders at Olympia, set an unbeatable target in the Olympia Speed Stakes.

Tim Stockdale won the opening Pounds for Points, clearing the joker fence to earn £1200, and Nick Skelton on Pandur raised the roof when he shaved 2.16secs off Meredith's speed in the two-rider jump-off in the final Santa Stakes.
