has attended Olympic horses as an official
veterinarian at the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000). He was an official
Malaysia Equestrian Team veterinarian at three consecutive SEA Games –
Bangkok (Thailand, 1998), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia, 2000) and Busan (Korea,
2002). He has been a President of the Veterinary Commission at the World Cup
Showjumping (SEA League) in 2001, 2002 & 2003, Malaysia and for the Kuala
Lumpur Grand Prix CSI*****, FEI International Showjumping, 2003.
He has also been stall-side at the 2001, 2003 FEI Australian Endurance
Riding Championships, the 1999 FEI European Endurance Championships and
2002 FEI World Endurance Championships, along with many others. In
addition to racking up the frequent-flier miles, Dr. Bala operates Good
Shepherd Veterinary Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition to his
practice, Dr. Bala travels around the countries for his equine
consulting business. With a help of his assistant, Dr. Bala develops an
individualized program for the horse to perform optimally, using
evaluation of training, musculoskeletal concerns, shoeing and
competition schedules, among other criteria.
Dr. Bala graduated from the College of Veterinary Science, India. After
earning his degree, he has been yearly attending the various equine
courses at the University of Sydney and last year unrolled for the Post
Graduate Distance Education Program at the University of Sydney
Australia for Advance Equine Surgery Course.
In addition to sporthorses, he also treats Thoroughbred racehorses. Dr.
Bala is a personal veterinarian to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun
Dr. Mahathir Mohamed’s horses. |
