How to become an FEI qualified coach?

July 9, 2004

There’s an offer you can’t refuse!

The FEI coaching system using an agreed syllabus was created to help developing NFs to organize their own coaching structure and develop their sport using local coaches which will be, at a certain level, certified jointly by the NF and the FEI.

Complete information on the creation of a basic structure for developing NFs and a FEI Coaching System was sent to the NFs in December 2003. A Development Workshop was also held at the General Assembly in Paris where the Coaching system was explained in details.

Unfortunately, according to Jacqueline Braissant, FEI Project Manager, except Thailand, the FEI did not see very much interest from the Asian countries until now. “The FEI System of Coaches education and certification will be our main objective on a long term basis. It is a tool which will make the sport progress in developing NFs”, explained Jacqueline further.

Jacqueline Braissant recognizes that efforts in communication must be made and she will look at explaining the coaching system concept more in depth. She also informed that the FEI website is being revised and the new site will offer a complete page for Development News.

This program is coordinated through the Development Department of the FEI and run closely with other FEI development programs. For example, each FEI discipline has been allocated finance to develop their particular discipline (FEI Development Fund). These programs generally take the form of providing experts to visit the NF and give practical advice, technical training courses, technical assistance, etc. for each NFs development. To benefit from any of these programs the NF will have to submit a request to the FEI Development Department (Jacqueline Braissant at j.braissant@horsesport.org ).
