Designer for Asian Showjumping Challenge - Juerg Maurer (SUI)

January 31, 2005- Asian Showjumping
Challenge Competition Committee is pleased to announce the 2005
courses will be designed by Juerg Maurer from Switzerland.
Asian riders will be
familiar with Jurg's courses as he was the CD for many of South East
Asia's World Cup Jumping qualifiers, including the 2004 qualifier
held in Kuala Lumpur.
Born in Brugg / Switzerland in 1937 ,
Juerg Maurer made his first riding experiences already in the age of
9. In 1957 he joined the Swiss Army Kavallery where he finished his
career in 1992 on the level of a Major. During 48 years Jürg Maurer
managed a family owned Business Hotel in Brugg.
With regard to his different
functions as an official on national and international show jumping
events. He also was a rider in courses until 1.5 mtr in national and
small international events. Juerg Maurer started as President of
Ground Jury in 1966 and since 1981 he acts as Course Designer FEI.
Amongst others he was in charge of 1.
Course Designer at different CSIO and CSI-W in Kuala Lumpur between
1998 - 2004 and in year 2000 on the PAN Arabian Games in Beirut /
Lebanon. He also was several times Course Designer at CSI Trio-Ranch
in Jeddah (Saudi-Arabia). In 1998 he was 1st Course Designer FEI at
the Asian Games, in Bangkok/ Thailand. During 8 years, he also was
CD at CSI Legelshorst (GER).
In Switzerland Juerg Maurer is in
charge of President of Ground Jury as well as of Course Designer on
national events during approx. 60 days / year each. Besides this he
was Course Designer at the CSIO Lucerne during 30 years and took
part on CSI Geneva in 1996/97. |
