UK-based triple team Australian gold medalist Andrew Hoy has won the CIC-W Eventing World Cup Qualifier at Luhmuehlen, Germany, with his top horse Mr. Pracatan. Andrew incurred no jumping penalties and finished with 39.5 penalties overall, thus overtaking last year's World Cup winner Linda Algotsson (SWE) in the World Cup standing.

Andrew's wife Bettina finished fourth with Ringwood Cockatoo. Andrew placed sixth on his second horse Yeoman's Point with 48 penalties.

Zara Phillips (GBR) and Springleaze Macaroo, who were still in second place after Dressage and Cross-country, dropped four rails in the Jumping test and finished seventh with 51.5 penalties.

Andrew will surely be pleased with his performance, consolidating his chances for selection to the Australian team for Athens.

Other Events
This coming weekend, Barcelona & Sydney gold medalist Matt Ryan will attempt to qualify for the Games with Bonza Puzzle at a 3-star event at Strzegom, Poland.

At the same time at home, virtually all of the Australian-based Olympic Eventing hopefuls will try to impress the selectors at the Sydney International Three-Day Event held at the Sydney 2000 Olympic venue at Horsley Park.

From the Elite list, there will be Boyd Martin (NSW) with True Blue Toozac, Rebel Morrow (NSW) with Oaklea Groover and Sydney Team Gold Medalist Stuart Tinney (NSW) with Jeepster. Combinations from the A-list are Olivia Bunn (NSW) with GV Danzar, Catherine Davies (Tas.) with Queens’ Ransom, Claudia Graham (NSW) with Diamond B Vogue, Sonja Johnson (WA) with Ringwould Jaguar, Sammi McLeod (NSW) with Black Odyssey, Nikki Richardson (NSW) with Makingground, Stuart Tinney (NSW) with Carrera and Nicky Turner (NSW) with Warrie Hill.

Australian-based Malaysian rider Husref Malek with his two horses Dashper and Supreme Court will also start in this event.
