Ludger Beerbaum (GER) reclaims the Number 1 position from which he was discarded at the end of May by his fellow countryman Marcus Ehning. The latter was only able to keep the 1st step of the world rankings a few months, as Olympic silver medallist Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) grabbed the coveted position after the Olympic Games.

Only 16 points separate Beerbaum and runner-up Pessoa. The German multi-medallist scored 175 rankings points at Spruce Meadows (CAN) where he finished 4th in the Grand Prix and 1st with his team in the Nations Cup, without even having to return for the second round.

Pessoa also scored quite an impressive amount of points at Spruce Meadows (170) and some 40 more in Jardy (FRA). The 2003 winner of the Top Ten Final will drop 138 points at the end of the month, while Beerbaum will have to do with 245 points less. With the World Cup season just about to start in Oslo (NOR), the battle between the two show jumping legends promises to be one of the highlights of the coming month.

Elisabeth (Beezie) Madden is the first woman ever to enter the exclusive club of the World Top 3. Member of the US Olympic silver team in Athens, Beezie Madden and her Olympic mount Authentic scored 150 points at Spruce Meadows. She earned an additional 50 points at Devon CSI-, which is part of the FEI World Cup series (North American League - East Coast). She is followed by another lady rider, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, who earned no less than 190 points at Spruce Meadows, including 100 for a double clear in the Nations Cup.

Roberth Smith (GBR) bursts into the Top Ten climbing directly from 13th to 7th rank, thanks to the 200 points he obtained at Spruce Meadows and the 85 earned at the Samsung Super League final event in Barcelona (ESP).

Otto Becker (GER), who dropped 408 points from last year at the end of September, is kicked out of the Top Ten and plunges from 6th to 13th place.

We apologize for the late publication of the FEI Gandini Rankings, due to late reception of overseas results.
