The 2004 FEI Top Driver Awards are now closed for the three categories of Single, Pairs and Four in Hand Driving.
At the end of the 11 events counting for the standings, Ben Simonsen (FIN) won the FEI Top Driver Award for Singles, sponsored by Kühnle Kutschenmanufacktur GmbH, with 45 points, ahead of Jan van den Broek (NED) and Marie Kahrle (SWE). The standings are only logical and reflect the world hierarchy of the discipline.
Marie Kahrle earned both the Individual and Team gold at the World Championship organised in Astorp (SWE) last July. Ben Simonsen was a member of the Finnish silver team and finished with the bronze at the Championship, while Jan van den Broek earned the individual silver medal.
The FEI Top Driver for Pairs is sponsored by Van Der Wiel Harness. The season consisted of 14 events and concluded in Greven-Bockholt (GER) mid-September. Zsolt Selyben (HUN) is the winner with 64 points, ahead of François Dutilloy (FRA) and Mieke van Tergouw (NED). The latter was a member of the bronze Dutch team at the 2003 World Pairs Championship in Jardy (FRA). Selyben finished 5th of the 2003 Top Driver Award’s edition.
The FEI Top Driver Award for Four in Hand is sponsored by Finn Caspersen. The prestigious trophy offered by the sponsor will go again to Michael Freund (GER), triple World Cup Champion and gold medallist of the two last World Championships. Freund concluded the season on 77 points, ahead of Ysbrand Chardon (NED) and Zoltan Lazar (HUN).
