Hector Luis Lahoz to compete for Dominican Republic

Hector Luis Lahoz will be representing the Dominican Republic in the FEI World Reining Masters Finals presented by NetJets which will be held in Oklahoma City (USA) on 2 December 2004 at 7.30 pm. Lahoz will be joining reiners from all over the world in this premier event which is held in conjunction with the 2004 NRHA Futurity & Championship Show.

Though new to the sport, the Dominican Republic is keen to be part of this international first and Luis is very proud to be able to represent his country. “I have had horses all my life as I was brought up on cattle farms. At the age of 17 I started playing polo as a professional in the US and in 1998 I met Don Cesar Alvares, the very first person to import Quarter Horses in our country”, says the 36 year-old Veterinarian. “Thanks to him I became acquainted with the sport of Reining and fell in love with this discipline”.

With two Rider Of The Year titles given by the Dominican Republic Equestrian Federation, Lahoz also claimed the National Reining Championship titles in 2002 and 2003. “Without the help of the American Quarter Horse Association, Trigg Rentfro, AQHA International Director, and NRHA we could never have achieved so much in so little time”, says Luis who also credits his mentor Carl McCuiston for having helped him since he turned to the sport of Reining.

The FEI World Reining Masters Series is organized for the first time this year. The presenting sponsor behind this remarkable Reining project is NetJets, the world's leading provider of fractional aircraft ownership.

NetJets fractional aircraft ownership allows individuals and companies to buy part of a private jet at a fraction of the cost of whole aircraft ownership, and guarantees availability 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In 2003, the NetJets Europe Fleet and the NetJets US Fleet together flew more than 250,000 flights to more than 145 countries.

Along with NetJets as the presenting sponsor, AQHA, NRHA, RHSF, and Classic S Ranch have generously donated funds to make the FEI World Reining Masters Finals a premier event.
