Jakarta, Indonesia – The winners of the Silver Equestrian Medals in the Indonesian National Games PON XVI, equestrian athletes from Kutai Kartanegara East Kalimantan Timur received an appreciation bonus from Mr. H Syaukani, Head of the Kutai Kartanegara district and Chairman of the East Kalimantan Olympic Council, during the ceremony held in the Borobudur Inter Continental Hotel, Jakarta on Friday evening, October 8, 2004.

Mr. H Ali S Bakri, Vice Chairman of the Gold Medal Program, East Kalimantan Olympic Council, was also present at the ceremony.

The KALTIM (Kalimantan Timur) won three Silver Medals in the National Games XVI for the East Kalimantan province (Dressage Individual, Dressage Team and Show Jumping Team).

The bonuses were awarded as follow: the team coaches Mr. Mandy, Barnabas, Dressage (HUG) and Oedenweijer, Wouters, Jumping (NED), received a Rp 20.000.000 (US$ 2,200) bonus each, team manager, Mr. Haryadi, received Rp 10.000.000 (US$ 1,100), other officials received Rp 3.000.000 bonus in total. Each Silver Medal was also awarded an appreciation bonus of Rp 20.000.000. Mr. H Syaukani privately added additional Rp 7.500.000,- for every Silver Medal.

The East Kalimantan province team was represented by the riders from the Arthayasa Stables. Mr. H Syaukani, East Kalimantan Olympic Council Chairman and Mr. Rafiq Radinal, Arthayasa Stables Chairman, secured the representation agreement eight months before the Games (January 2004). After the successful team performance, the agreement was now extended till the National Games 2008.

Arthayasa Stables, known now as Kumala-Arthayasa Stables, will also become an official training centre for the East Kalimantan province.

For the National Games 2008, East Kalimantan is now building a new Horse Racing Track and Equestrian Center in Kutai Kartanegara that will be managed by the Kumala-Arthayasa Stables.
