"We were already able to constantly increase the prize-money of the CHIO Aachen in previous years thanks to our economic partners," stated Michael Mronz, General Manager of the Aachener Reitturnier GmbH. In the 16 jumping competitions a total of 1.03 million Euros can be earned. The overall prize-money of the competition totals 1.67 million Euros. In comparison: In the year 2000 it was the equivalent of 1.12 million Euros. This corresponds to an increase in the overall prize-money of around 33% since 2000.
From a sporting point of view the CHIO 2008 will be hallmarked by the Olympic Equestrian Games. "For many nations it will be decided in Aachen, who will be competing in Hong Kong," commented Frank Kemperman, General Manager of the organisers, the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV). Besides the three Olympic disciplines, show-jumping, dressage and eventing, also driving and vaulting competitions will be held at the Soers in Aachen from June 27th - July 6th, 2008.
