Led the field with a self-bred horse

"He trains with Ludger Beerbaum now and again, that could help him win," announced the stadium commentator at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen (June 27th - July 6th). Marco Stevens rode to victory on his self-bred gelding, Numero Uno, with a clear round in 75.09 seconds and thus triumphed in the Sparkassen-Youngsters-Cup for the second time.

The first four places all went to German riders: Marco Kutscher finished second with the Argentinus/Landadel daughter, Arabella, who took 76.47 seconds to finish the course. Thomas Voss from Schleswig-Holstein who had saddled Casuarina came third. "She's a lovely horse, who always wants to do everything right. Casuarina has got a top character and also put in a clear round here yesterday. She was sold at the Holstein Auction as a three-year-old and I have been riding her ever since," stated Voss.

The twins Jasmine und Joy Chen, who come from Taipei, China, represented the most distant country. Nevertheless, they didn't actually have to travel too far to Aachen, since they both train with Paul Schockemöhle in Mühlen. Stefan Borgman from Westphalia watched closely while Joy was in the ring, he is namely the breeder of the Champion du Lys son, who was born at Borgman's stud in Ostbevern. "It makes you really proud to see one of the horses you have bred and known since the day it was born jumping here in Aachen," the father of two commented.
