Riding his favourite horse Parvina, the duo were sharp and clean with two clear rounds, clocking a fast time to beat Helena Gabrielsson from Sweden on King Power Aladdin and his own brother Quizer Ambak on Calano, who came a close third.
The course was a solid 1.40m / 1.45m built by Official FEI Course Designer Werner Deeg from Germany.
Helena was delighted after her jump off round, she attacked the course in total concentration after the hard lesson learnt in the last Show’s qualifier where she incurred a time fault and won on her undeclared horse Nixon de la Tourette.
Qabil was happy to ride Parvina again, the stunning mare had been sidelined with an eye injury, and did not enter the two previous qualifiers.
Quizier, who recently became a father to a baby boy “Rafael” was his usual self, riding a cool clear round in good time but not fast enough.
The purple verticle No. 4 early in the round caused 3 casualties out of a small field of 9 entries. Jennifer Chang’s Luxor refused to get anywhere near it, bolting off towards the triple to the left , jumping the second element, an oxer “backwards” out of control. Jennifer had placed second on the same horse in the previous qualifier. Helena’s winnning ride in the last qualifier was also a casualty at this fence, Linus, ridden by Syed Zain said NO NO at No. 4.
