It is one of the most important competitions at the CHIO Aachen (June 26th-July 5th): The WARSTEINER Prize, the Prize of Europe. Today Ashlee Bond was able to add her name to the long list of winners that includes many equestrian sport legends. The US-American left the rest of the world elite behind her in the jump-off with her horse Cadett (0/45.93 seconds). The French rider Pénélope Leprevost secured herself second place on Mylord Carthago (0/47.49), The World Champion Jos Lansink (BEL) came third on Spenders S (0/47,81). Carsten-Otto Nagel was the best German rider in the competition, finishing seventh on Lex Lugar (0/49.56).
After the first round 14 riders reached the jump-off. And Ashlee Bond, who is competing at the CHIO Aachen for the first time ever this year, once again caused a stir after already coming second in the STAWAG Prize on Tuesday. Up until now the 24-year-old rider from Los Angeles, California was is not very well-known in Germany. "It is a great honour for me being able to compete here," said Bond with a huge smile on her face. "I was pretty nervous after reaching the jump-off. I have always admired riders like Marcus Ehning or Jos Lansink, I more or less grew up with the victories. Being able to ride against them now is simply unbelievable." Jos Lansink has already cracked her recipe for success: "She was simply faster from the start to the finish."
