Qabil Ambak and Jennifer Chang lead in the FEI World Cup SEA League. Both riders are still in the lead with 23 points for Qabil and 15 for Jennifer despite their unfortunate falls last weekend during the Merdeka Masters 2009.

Jennifer Chang

Jennifer Chang hit the dust in the warm up arena while training and did not make it to the 3rd SEA SJ World Cup league qualifier. The Darling of the circuit had just made a great comeback after giving birth to a baby boy a few months ago. She is back in Hong Kong where she will undergo surgery for her fractured clavicle.

Qabil fell off his horse when Amadeus van Boswinning hit the back rail of jump number seven during the Merdeka Masters SEA World Cup Qualifier at 3 Q last Sunday 16th August, 2009; he emerged unscathed and the crowd sighed, relieved that he was unhurt, but disappointed with their favourite rider’s elimination from the competition.

Outsider Syed Mohsin Almohdazar was the winner with a faster time in the jump off of the only two clear rounds, Mohsin riding Linus clocked a time of 47.7 while Quizer Ambak on his loyal partner Calano, who at eighteen was not able to match Mohsin’s mount Linus’ faster round in the jump off was almost five seconds slower.

And this is it for the Malaysian circuit. As the fasting month gives horses and riders a much deserved break from the fast paced equestrian calendar in the country, the horses will return to their home based stables, some will rest and travel back to Singapore and Thailand. Singapore have their monthly shows to look forward to and the polo season resumes in Thailand with horses and teams from all over the region.

The KL GRAND PRIX in October is what everyone will be back for in Malaysia.
