Kenutcky Monthly Selected as Official Kentucky Magazine of the 2010 Games

The World Games 2010 Foundation has announced that Kentucky Monthly magazine has been selected as the "Official Kentucky Magazine" for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Founded in 1998, Kentucky Monthly magazine celebrates the rich culture of the Commonwealth and has built a strong reputation as the premier publication chronicling life in Kentucky. Every issue overflows with the finest the Bluegrass has to offer, covering stories about the state's highly acclaimed colleges and universities, one-of-a-kind artists, inspired restaurants and breathtaking destinations. This year the magazine celebrates its 10th anniversary as well as its status as the official magazine of The Cup Experience, the host committee of The Ryder Cup.

"To be affiliated with the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games is an honor for Kentucky Monthly," said Stephen M. Vest, editor and publisher of the magazine. "As with the upcoming Ryder Cup, this is an event that will place the Commonwealth squarely on the world stage and we look forward to presenting the finest coverage available and providing a showcase where visitors can see what else Kentucky offers during their visit."

Kentucky Monthly will devote significant coverage to the 2010 Games beginning in October 2008, and the magazine will be offered in partner hotels and hospitality areas during the 2010 Games.

"Kentucky Monthly is a touchstone for the state on the most significant developments in culture, business, tourism, and beyond," noted Foundation CEO Jack Kelly. "We are very pleased that Kentucky Monthly views the 2010 Games so importantly in their coverage plans, and for their audience."

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park September 25-October 10, 2010, are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and are held every four years. The Games have never before been held outside of Europe, nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site- both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.

Equine Exhibition Proposal Process Underway for 2010 Games
Request for Proposals (RFP) Application Available

The World Games 2010 Foundation has announced it is requesting proposals for equine exhibitions and demonstrations to be showcased at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at the Kentucky Horse Park, September 25-October 10, 2010.

Equine organizations interested in hosting an exhibition or demonstration, for breeds, disciplines, or equestrian sports, must submit an application to the World Games 2010 Foundation. An electronic copy of the application is now available online at http://www.feigames2010.org/get_involved . National organizations and recognized affiliates are strongly encouraged to either submit proposals on behalf of their breed or discipline, or to actively support proposals that exhibit cooperation within their breed or discipline.

"The equine community will be gathering at the 2010 Games to meet and exchange new ideas, concepts and innovations in the industry, as well as showcase the best of the equine world to a truly global audience," said Foundation Director of Administration Holley Groshek. "We are very pleased with the early interest we have received in hosting professional, world-class exhibitions."

The selection process is expected to be very thorough and competitive, and organizers anticipate the proposal review process to last through early 2009. The demonstrations, exhibitions, and other special events will be evaluated based on their ability to appeal to a wide audience, contribute to an overall varied equine exhibition, ability to be held at no cost to the World Games 2010 Foundation, and reflect the world class level of the FEI World Equestrian Games. Breed and discipline affiliate representatives will be involved in the proposal review process.

"This will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase as many breeds as possible during the 2010 Games. It can really be a festival of horses like our country has never known," said John Long, CEO of the United States Equestrian Federation. "We hope to receive dozens of great proposals and believe it will be a prequel to an annual, all-breed show at the Kentucky Horse Park beginning in 2011."

For additional information about the RFP process, contact Holley Groshek, Director of Administration for the 2010 Games World Foundation, at 859-255-2010 ext. 224 or hgroshek@feigames2010.org
