The Asian Showjumping Open Challenge marks the start of the Show jumping season in Malaysia. It is also the only competition where winners are only declared after 4 rounds of show jumping events with a new jumping course every round. The 1st and 3rd rounds are based on faults and the 3rd and 4th rounds are based on faults and speed.
Quite exciting to watch as rider gets the chance to improve ranking from round to round. All rounds are all equally important.
Class 1 had 15 competitors, Class 2 had 5 riders and Class 3 had 6 riders. The 125cm category had a very impressive line of seven famous champion star horses – Calano, Follyfoot Mary, La Bonita, Air Asia’s Little Tin Can, Hamlet, young Calvin Klein and Senorita.
Classes 4 and 5 (90cm-100cm) were held on Saturday and Sunday for upcoming horses and new show jumpers. Winners of Class 4 were Insp. Ruzalina on Deli, Faridah Baharun on Royal Sarafan and Shazna Leena on her pony, Big Ben. Winners of Class 5 were Insp. Ruzalina on Deli, Shazna Leena on Big Ben and Catherine Tzinberg on Please Be True.
A great season start – we all look forward to seeing everyone in April at the Malaysian FEI Show jumping Competition 2005.
